Clinical Nurse

This position is available on a permanent full-time basis (76 hours per fortnight). An opportunity exists for a talented and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse to join the Derby Community Health team. The town of Derby is located 220 kilometres north east of Broome on the tidal mud flats along the edge of the King Sound. It has the highest tidal range of any port in Australia and being the closest town and therefore the ideal steppingstone to the awesome gorges of the Gibb River Road and the spectacular display of the Horizontal Waterfalls and Buccaneer Archipelago. To be successful, you will have...

• Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
• Demonstrated commitment in the application of Primary Health Care Principles and a Community Development approach to practice.
• Demonstrated knowledge of cultural factors and social determinants, particularly as they relate to Aboriginal Health.
• Demonstrated ability to function independently and as part of a multidisciplinary, multi sectorial and interagency team.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including via the use of computer programs.
• Current C Class drivers Licence and an ability and willingness to travel including overnight stays away from home.

Position Profile The Clinical Nurse / School Health Nurse is responsible for providing a high level of primary health care to achieve the optimum state of health for individuals, families and communities with the emphasis in the area of School Health.

Area Profile WACHS Kimberley is the most northern health region of WACHS. The Kimberley region has approximately 200 Aboriginal communities, over 34 different Aboriginal language groups and 45 percent of the population are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. WACHS Kimberley consists of six hospitals, an inpatient mental health unit, three Community Directorates and a Corporate Office. WACHS Kimberley provides hospital, community health, public health, remote area health, community aged care, and mental health services across the region through a dedicated team of medical, nursing, Aboriginal health, allied health, and support staff.
