Job description

St Peter’s Boys Prep School is an independent, Anglican, Diocesan school. We are known for our innovative approach to education and the warmth of our community. An opportunity exists for an exceptional Boys S****enior Prep Teacher to join the school from 01 January 2027.

Role Overview:

The Boys Senior Prep Teacher will guide boys of all academic abilities in developing a deep love for discovery and learning, while also nurturing the critical thinking and independence needed for their future journey, all within a supportive and encouraging classroom environment.

Duties (not an exhaustive list):

  • Ability to teach from grade 4 to 7
  • Ensure that lessons impart a love for learning across a host of subjects
  • Plan and teach interesting and engaging lessons
  • Involvement in the extramural programme, which may include Saturdays
  • Promotion of the St Peter's Prep Schools attributes and values
  • Teach according to the St Peter's Prep Schools Best Practice pedagogy
  • Communicate and engage with parents on boys’ academic progress
  • Play an active role in the school’s Pastoral Care system ensuring the social and emotional needs are met

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A relevant teaching qualification
  • SACE Registration
  • A minimum of 3 years’ full-time teaching experience
  • Experience in teaching Maths and English
  • An understanding of Inquiry Based Learning would be advantageous
  • Ability to coach Boys' sport would be advantageous

  • A willingness to work as part of a team and team teach, if required
  • An energetic and inspirational approach to boys’ learning and motivation
  • A progressive understanding of current educational trends
  • The capacity to develop and sustain new teaching methodologies and practices
  • A values-based approach to teaching
  • The intention to work according to the school’s ethos, specifications and policies
  • A willingness to support and mentor, and to be mentored
  • The flexibility, ability, and willingness to work outside school hours, when necessary
  • A commitment to ongoing personal development and a future-oriented approach
