Job Overview

Midwater SUPERSPAR is looking for an experienced, reliable, and passionate Blockman to join our Butchery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meat products while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Cut, debone, trim, and portion beef, pork, lamb, and poultry.
• Prepare value-added products according to store specifications.
• Maintain attractive, well-stocked meat displays.
• Ensure excellent product quality and freshness.
• Minimise waste and maximise yield.
• Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.
• Operate butchery equipment safely and correctly.
• Assist customers with product advice and special meat cuts.
• Work closely with the Butchery Manager to achieve department targets. These duties align with common retail Blockman roles in South Africa.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Blockman in a retail butchery.
• Experience in a SUPERSPAR or supermarket environment will be an advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of meat cuts and deboning techniques.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, honest, and team-oriented.
• Willing to work retail hours, weekends, and public holidays.
