Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate, professional, and hands-on Assistant Restaurant Manager to support the General Manager in delivering exceptional guest experiences and maintaining the highest standards of service, food quality, hygiene, and staff performance. The successful candidate will assist in overseeing daily restaurant operations, managing staff, ensuring service excellence, and driving revenue through effective leadership and guest engagement.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management

  • Assist with the daily management of Front of House operations.
  • Ensure smooth service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
  • Monitor restaurant cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards.
  • Ensure all SOPs, service standards, and company policies are followed.
  • Conduct opening and closing procedures.

Guest Experience

  • Welcome and engage with guests to ensure a memorable dining experience.
  • Handle guest complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly.
  • Maintain high levels of guest satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
  • Assist with VIP guests, special occasions, and dietary requirements.

Staff Management

  • Supervise, motivate, and support waiters, wine advisors, hosts, and runners.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and rostering.
  • Conduct staff briefings and service meetings.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new employees.
  • Monitor staff grooming, punctuality, and performance.

Food & Beverage Service

  • Ensure service is executed according to fine dining standards.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and timing.
  • Assist with wine service and beverage operations.
  • Promote upselling of food, wine pairings, cocktails, and premium beverages.
  • Maintain strong menu and wine knowledge.

Financial & Administrative Duties

  • Assist in achieving revenue and profitability targets.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory control.
  • Ensure accurate cash handling and POS procedures.
  • Assist with daily reports, stock counts, and operational administration.
  • Monitor labour costs and operational expenses.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, food safety, and health regulations.
  • Conduct regular hygiene and safety checks.
  • Ensure all staff follow safe working practices.
  • Monitor cleanliness of dining areas, bars, kitchens, and storage areas.

Minimum Requirements

  • 2–5 years' experience in a supervisory or management role within a restaurant, hotel, or fine dining environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Experience with POS systems and restaurant administration.
  • Good understanding of food, wine, and beverage service.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hospitality Management Diploma or relevant qualification.
  • Fine dining experience.
  • Wine knowledge or WSET qualification advantageous.
  • Experience in staff training and development.
  • HACCP and food safety knowledge.
