Contours Landscapes (PTY) Ltd is an established and accomplished landscape construction firm with its head office located in Muizenberg, Cape Town. We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Assistant Maintenance & Nursery Manager to support the daily management of our landscape operations. – Visit www.capecontours.co.za for more information.

ROLE OVERVIEW
The successful candidate will assist in managing the daily nursery operations while providing support to the Maintenance Department. The role includes overseeing crop production, inventory control, staff supervision, and health and safety compliance, ensuring the production of high-quality planting material and the efficient achievement of the company's operational objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, train, motivate, and manage maintenance and nursery staff, including performance and disciplinary processes.
- Plan and oversee seasonal plant production, crop scheduling, and nursery operations.
- Manage irrigation, fertilisation, pest and disease control, and greenhouse conditions to optimise plant health.
- Supervise the care and maintenance of nursery stock, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and risk management standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory, crop records, and stock control while assisting with budgeting and cost management.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with customers and business partners to ensure quality service delivery.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- National Diploma in Forestry/Agriculture or BSc Degree in Horticulture.
- Minimum 5 years' nursery experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Knowledge of production planning, budgeting, logistics, inventory control, and SHEQ management.
- Strong leadership, organisational, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid RSA driver's licence, First Aid Certificate, and Pesticide Handling/Application certification.
- Police Clearance Certificate (if shortlisted), financially stable for credit checks, and physically fit to work outdoors.
