Assistant Accountant APAC

Location - South Africa (Remote)

Reports to - Regional Financial Controller APAC

Direct Reports - None

Role Purpose

Responsible for all Accounts Payable processes in the APAC region, including booking of invoices, supplier pay runs, dealing with supplier queries, preparing BAS returns, managing accruals and prepayments, maintaining the asset register.

Key Responsibilities

Invoice processing

• Responsible for end-to-end accounts payable including approvals, payment processing and statement reconciliation

BAS/GST returns

• Preparing and lodging BAS for AU and NZ

Month end

• Processing bank reconciliations including credit cards
• Managing accruals and prepayments including associated journals
• Maintaining asset & intangibles register and depreciation calculations

Business partnering

• Producing various reports, analyses, correspondence and other documentation
• Customer service and liaison, building strong working relationships and effective communication channels with key stakeholders, resolving complaints and enquiries

Compliance

• Responsible for compliance with the QISMS requirements together with any supporting policies, standards, and procedures
• Complying with all quality and security controls established
• Reporting quality and security breaches and taking necessary corrective actions
• Taking appropriate actions to protect information assets
• Using the information processing resources only as authorised and intended by the system owner
• Reporting non-conformances and opportunities to improve the QISMS

Person Specification

Essential

• Minimum 3 + years’ experience in a similar position
• Proven experience with SaaS accounting software's
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Experience in processing accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable,
• Payroll, journals and reconciliations
• An understanding indirect tax (GST/VAT) general concepts and compliance with respect to financial transactions
• Display of excellent liaison skills and have experience of having dealt closely with non-financial people
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Attention to detail & a well-mannered nature
• Effective organisational & time management skills

Desirable

• Proven experience in MYOB accounting software
• Understanding of BAS reporting and compliance
• Experience in the Information Technology industry in a medium to large organisation
• Familiarity with subscription licensing models and managing renewal invoicing
• Experience with implementation of systems
• Happy to get stuck in and doing it the tried and tested way when the situation calls for it

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R315 000,00 - R465 000,00 per year
