COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS)

Ability to do fault finding and repairs to electrical equipment and installations. Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 and its relevant regulations.

INHERENT REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

Valid (Code B/EB) drivers licence and willingness to travel. Willingness to be available after hours and perform standby duties.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Appropriate Trade Test Certificate in Electrical field.

DUTIES (KEY RESULT AREAS/OUTPUTS)

General maintenance and repair of electrical items such as lights, plugs, distribution boards, circuit breakers, motors and industrial equipment. Manage the control of tools, equipment and stock. Ability to maintain minor mechanical and electrical installation’s, fault finding, as well as all General Maintenance work. Perform new installation work or expand existing electrical services. Render assistance to the Artisan foreman and Chief artisan and effective supervision and training of subordinates. The ability to perform basic duties and record-keeping of logbooks. Maintenance on UPS systems and Generators. Assist Artisan foreman and Chief Artisan in compiling of specifications for electrical projects and project coordination. General substation maintenance.

EXPERIENCE

Grade A: No experience required. Grade B: At least 18 years appropriate/recognisable experience in an area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate. Grade C: At least 34 years appropriate/recognisable experience in an area after obtaining the relevant Trade Test Certificate.
