Job description
We are looking for a professional, detail-oriented Architectural Technologist or Architectural Draftsperson to join our Construction team in George.
The ideal candidate is passionate about drafting residential house plans, highly organised, and takes ownership of projects from inception through to completion. They are self-motivated, proactive, and committed to producing accurate, high-quality work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing technical drawings in REVIT, managing municipal submissions, and coordinating with clients, consultants, and the internal project team. A solid understanding of building regulations, SANS standards, and municipal by-laws is essential.
Salary will be market-related and based on experience, skills and qualifications.
Responsibilities
1. Consult and communicate effectively with clients throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Prepare and draft residential plans for municipal submission and construction purposes.
3. Manage municipal submissions via relevant Local Authority and Building Control processes.
4. Coordinate with engineers, quantity surveyors, and other professional consultants.
5. Assist the Project Manager with site inspections and technical queries when required.
6. Ensure all drawings, project documentation, and submissions are accurate, complete, and well-organised.
7. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Requirements
8. Fluent in Afrikaans.
9. Proficient in REVIT.
10. Degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology, or Architectural Drafting.
11. SACAP registration preferred; however, substantial relevant experience will be considered.
12. Minimum of 4 years' experience drafting residential house plans and construction documentation
13. Strong working knowledge of SANS regulations, municipal by-laws, and the Collaborator Online Submission Portal.
14. Demonstrated experience preparing residential house plans and managing municipal approval processes.
15. Strong organisational, administrative, and document management skills.
16. Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from concept through approval.
17. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
18. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines effectively.
19. Comfortable engaging directly with clients and providing a high standard of service.
20. Strong computer literacy and willingness to adapt to new technologies.
General Information
21. Based in George (no out-of-region travel required).
22. Permanent, full-time position.
23. Start date: As soon as available.
