Accountant

Introduction

An established and reputable accounting firm is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Accountant to join its professional team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of Annual Financial Statements, and related accounting functions , while ensuring full compliance with statutory and professional standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements for companies, trusts, and individuals using Draftworx and Excel.
• Collect and review year-end accounting information from an assigned client portfolio.
• Perform reconciliations of bank, debtors, creditors, VAT, payroll, and loan accounts.
• Process year-end journals, depreciation, deferred tax, and tax calculations.
• Calculate provisional tax and taxation payable/refundable.
• Ensure financial statements are completed accurately and ready for review and sign-off.
• Manage and support payroll, tax, and filing clerks.
• Assist with accounting queries and other ad hoc tasks as required by management.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BCom Accounting degree or similar qualification
• Completed or in-progress SAIPA / SAICA articles (advantageous)
• Proven experience in an accounting firm environment
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards and statutory requirements
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
