Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial administration, accounting operations, payroll management and oversight, reconciliations, budgeting, reporting, and financial compliance functions across Octogen (Pty) Ltd, General Union (Pty) Ltd, My Debt Doctor (Pty) Ltd, Financial Wellbeing Helpline, and Future Technologies.
The role includes managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial processing and reconciliations, maintaining financial controls, supporting payroll and SARS compliance, handling supplier, and client financial queries, and assisting executive management with financial reporting, risk management, and operational financial planning.
The Accountant is further responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, effective internal controls, compliance with applicable financial and tax legislation, and the smooth functioning of inter-company financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Administration & Accounting
- Daily processing and reconciliation of bank statements across all entities.
- Daily processing and management of supplier accounts and invoices.
- Monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts, petty cash, and supplier accounts.
- Processing of payments, debit orders, and banking transactions.
- Processing and reconciliation of inter-company journals, invoices, credit notes, and allocations.
- Preparation and processing of monthly salary journals.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end financial procedures.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Maintaining and updating the fixed asset register.
Payroll & SARS Administration
- Assisting with payroll administration and salary processing.
- Managing and overseeing payroll administration and supporting the Payroll Department with EMP201, VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SARS-related queries and reconciliations.
- Ensuring payroll-related journals and reconciliations are accurately processed.
- Assisting with statutory financial compliance requirements.
Client Accounts & Revenue Management
- Capturing of customer invoices.
- Capturing PDA Hyphen receipts on Octogen and Court Control systems.
- Investigation and resolution of returned payments, reversals, and account discrepancies.
- Assisting with the write-off and reconciliation of bad debts where required.
- Overseeing incoming client financial queries and account-related matters professionally and efficiently.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assisting with preparation of monthly management reports and financial reporting.
- Assisting with annual financial statements, audits, reviews, and budgeting processes.
- Monitoring cash flow and financial transactions across all business entities.
- Ensuring compliance with internal financial controls, accounting standards, and financial legislation.
- Identifying financial risks and recommending corrective actions where necessary.
Leadership & Operational Support
- Providing support and guidance to finance and administrative staff where required.
- Assisting management with operational financial planning and implementation of financial systems and controls.
- Implementing and improving financial processes, procedures, and operational efficiencies.
- Translating financial information into practical operational insights for management.
- Assisting with ad hoc financial and administrative duties as required from time to time.

- Experience with bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, and inter-company accounting.
- Experience in payroll administration and SARS-related processes.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end procedures.
- Financial reporting and budgeting experience.
- Data literacy and reporting capability.
- Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of financial controls and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple entities and financial processes simultaneously.
- BCom Accounting / Financial Accounting or equivalent.
- 5 years' relevant accounting experience.
Experience:

License/Certification:
