Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair the ship's electrical power distribution systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical and electronic faults throughout the vessel.
- Maintain generators, switchboards, transformers, motors, and control systems.
- Service automation, alarm, and monitoring systems.
- Maintain emergency power systems and emergency generators.
- Support maintenance of propulsion and thruster electrical equipment.
- Inspect and maintain lighting systems and public-area electrical equipment.
- Assist with planned maintenance and maintain technical records.
- Respond to electrical emergencies and equipment failures.
- Ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations and company procedures.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Technical Engineering, or a related field.
- Valid maritime Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) certification (STCW) as required for the position.
- Previous seagoing experience in an electrical engineering role, often 2–5 years depending on the cruise line.
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, PLCs, automation, and marine electrical equipment.
- Good English communication skills.
- Ability to work onboard for contracts of approximately 3–5 months, depending on the company.
Pay: R30 000,00 - R45 000,00 per month
